From the Interbank Forex Market to the Internet Forex Market Steve Pickering is based in Denmark. He runs Forex Trader Mentor, a service to put forex traders on the right track to success by giving them the benefit of his many years’ experience. Steve is originally from London, where he began his life-long career and passion for the forex market in 1971 at the tender age of 17. He has worked as a trader and a broker in London, Copenhagen and Frankfurt, topping his career as Head of Capital Markets with a major broker. Since then, he has owned his own forex training outfit, which used an in-house simulation to train generations of interbank forex traders. He has been an instructor for the ACI on several international training seminars. After selling the company to a major financial software house in 2000, he turned his attention away from the Interbank market and assisted traders in making the transition to becoming hedge fund managers. Recognising that there was a need to assist self-directed forex traders, he established Forex Trader Mentor in 2004. Steve concentrates on making traders aware of the risks of trading and avoiding the hype that lures many traders into disastrous losses. By teaching sound money management principles using a proprietary system, he helps traders get a thorough understanding of the market in the shortest time scale possible and thus, quickly on the road to success. Mentoring is achieved with a combination of on-line guidance and the use of the ‘TradeCraft’ money management and trade monitoring system. The emphasis of the mentoring is on establishing a trading system, rules and working to a disciplined money and risk management system. Steve is also the author of a forex trading newsletter. Says Steve on participation in this unique forum as resident expert: In my 34-year career in the forex market, I have never seen so many people being attracted to the market as now. They are being ‘sold the dream’ by slick marketers and are led to believe that forex offers ‘money for nothing’. Forex is a profession and it has a learning curve like any other profession. For those who are prepared to work hard and seriously at it, there is a good chance of getting consistent, above-average results. I believe that my experience and un-biased advice will give traders the answers that they are seeking to cut through to the truth and provide them with a solid platform to achieve success.
