Newbie with q about market hours
I am totally new at learning Forex but I hope someone can clear something up for me. The market hours for each pair has me perplexed. According to my online research, the market opens (Eastern time) for these pairs at these times:
EUR/USD OPEN 2AM CLOSE ????? GBP/USD OPEN 3 AM CLOSE 12 PM USD/CHF OPEN 8 AM CLOSE 5 PM As you can see, I have yet to figure out when the EUR/USD market closes. If it opens at 2 am, how is it compatible with the idea that the US market opens at 8 am? For which pair? If the US dollar can be traded at 2 am with the Euro and at 3 am against the pound, what does it mean for the US market to be open from 8am-5pm? It sounds like it really opens at 2 am. Also, If the GBP/USD market closes at noon (Eastern), does this mean that the dollar can only be traded with other markets that are open? The whole thing is just confusing to me! Thanks if anyone can decipher this for me! Brett

 If you want, you can even download very neat small size application that you may run during trading. It will show you directly what market is currently traded in Eastern Standard Time  Enjoy !!! I appreciate you both trying to answer but I am still not clear on everything. When can I trade USD/CHF? I can find info on what times the markets open for dollars, pounds, and Euro but I do not know what that means for Swiss Francs? What market hours is that?

mate,
the forex is a 24hr market (it closes at weekends, ie friday evening for us in the UK) during the week you can trade any currency you like, and so can everyone else, thats the beauty of it. Make sence now? simon
