An old adage but a good one. If you can determine the major trend of a market you can buy/sell reactions against it and probably do 'ok' that way or at least not get hurt too badly.
Of three time frames I watch I use the middle one just for following the action, a larger one for spotting the major trend, and a smaller one to pinpoint entry. I'm generally much more comfortable if I'm going to enter with the major trend... So- I'd like to know: How do traders here on GoForex determine the major trend of a market? I recognize what constitutes 'major trend' will differ depending on what time frames a trader uses. Still, whatever level you trade there must be a major trend. What tools do you use to find it?

Interesting that there are no replies to this post, but question is good...
Can anybody recommend usage of few indicators which could be used for trend identifications? In theory you can use ADX, Directional Movement System, Vertical Horizontal Filter, but what gives best result in practice? |
